There’s little else that can be said about Matt and Sarah that isn’t already said through their wedding (and engagement) pictures. Matt was one of my college roommates during my 5th (extra credit) year at UT. Come to think of it, we were both pursuing “extra credits”. He was a Boston native that fit into the Texas crowd very naturally. We related on several levels – we were both ignorant of our dorkiness entering freshmen year, we both played basketball (think kobe/shaq, kidd/dirk, pierce/garnett*), and we were both involved in similar social communities. It’s strange to think we’ve known each other for 10+ years, but when he met Sarah, he became a new person. Basketball shorts and UT tshirts were replaced by j. crew’s fall collection; glasses were replaced by contacts; and the “just got out of bed hair” look was replaced with hair dryers and wax.
Sarah and Matt’s wedding at the Abernethy Center outside of Portland, OR could not have been any more perfect. The weather was a gorgeous 75 degrees, the sun was golden, and the personality of their day spoke softly to their classically modern and DIY wedding. His dad presided over the ceremony and her mom escorted her down, while 200 of their closest family and friends (me included) witnessed their union. I’m honored to be part of their wedding in this way and I’m so excited to see where Matt and Sarah’s relationship takes them.
I should mention that their first dance was a combination of their first dance and their first game of HORSE as a married couple. Talk about true love – Sarah is a die hard Lakers fan, Matt is a die hard Celtics fan. Somehow, they make it work.
Thanks to Kim Le for shooting, eating, and exploring our way through Portland with me.

A preview from my weekend in Columbus, Ohio – a gorgeous Indian and American wedding in blissful 85 degree weather (a relief from Dallas’ 105). Congrats Shilpa and Luke! Thanks for having us part of your day. More to come.
Jerri Ann and Anthony are two of the most adventurous people I’ve met. Last year, we took a last minute trip to New Zealand for their engagement session and, if you’re friends with them on Facebook, you’ll know their love for travel rivals mine.
Though they love skipping around the planet (currently residing in Cali), they held the wedding in their hometown Dallas at the elegant Crow Collection of Asian Art Museum. It was a beautiful wedding filled with incredible people, fun times, and lots of dancing! They also did a unique first look where they just had a private unseen moment together before the ceremony. Congrats guys and thanks for having me be part of your day! (and happy anniversary!)
And special thanks to Katherine and Shelley for helping out with the wedding.
If you’ve followed my blog or know me personally, you’ll know that it’s rare for me to ever use the “less than 3″ symbol to describe anything. It’s just not me. However, I am making a rare exception for Portland (big deal alert!). Kim Le and I came to PDX to photograph a wedding and ended up staying a few extra days to eat, explore, and soak up a new city. Turns out Portland graced us with some of its best weather this year. As we walked around the Pearl district after dinner on our last night, I said to her that Portland has quickly found a place in my heart.
Unfortunately, I didn’t think to take my camera everywhere, so I only have a few photos – mainly from the hike we took at Multnomah Falls. I’ll include some of the instagrams we took on our trip, but you’ll just have to follow me and Kim Le on Facebook to keep up with the edible side of our my travels. Also included in this post are a few preview photos from Matt and Sarah’s wedding at the beautiful Abernethy Center. Congrats guys!
This last photo is of some of my favorite people, Celine and Justin, whose wedding I photographed last summer in France. I sneakily spotted this photo framed on their side table when they invited Kim Le and I over to watch the bachelorette finale at their chic Portland apartment.
