Linda and Vu’s Grand Wedding at Hearst Castle

CALIFORNIA DESTINATION WEDDING

I had the privilege of photographing a wedding at the famous and breathtaking Hearst Castle recently. Linda and Vu diligently pursued their dream to have their wedding at Hearst over the course of several months, overcoming hurdle after hurdle to host their private event at such an historical site. Drawing inspiration from the Castle’s exquisite architecture and decor, Vu and Linda designed their wedding alongside Orange County planner Michelle Groom of Mele Amore Events. Tying together soft hues of gold, ivory and peach, the various pieces of their internationally inspired wedding flowed together seamlessly.

As guests arrived at the castle, they were welcomed by a historical tour of Hearst that brought them to the ceremony at Castle Terrace C overlooking the San Simeon Coast. Linda, fitted in a gorgeous Vera Wang (Erica), and Vu, dressed in a custom D&G tuxedo met in tears at Hearst’s famous Neptune Pool for their first look. Linda’s bouquet of fresh roses, gardenias and vintage broaches by Fantasy Floral perfectly complemented the centerpieces also designed by Amanda and her team.

After the ceremony, guests indulged on tray passed hors d’oeuvres and were served single vineyard Champagne at the Neptune Pool as the sun set. Bells chimed, inviting guests to the main terrace where dinner under the stars waited. Handmade Swarovski napkin rings, gold rimmed glasses, and an immaculate table setting instantly set the tone for an evening of fine dining and celebration. No Vacancy’s twelve piece band escorted guests to their places to the tunes of classic Sinatra on a stage backed by two hundred hand crafted flowers sourced from imported French paper. The Furiwa 12 course dinner had influences from several countries, with the signature dish served in young coconuts branded with Linda & Vu’s custom wedding logo. As the night settled in, Hearst castle was left illuminated only by moonlight and the candlelit orbs that glowed each guest’s name; and given life by the fun crowd who had literally come from all over the world to dance and celebrate under the twinkling San Simeon stars.

I also got to work with my friend and one of the world’s best cinematographers, Joe Simon. Check out his video here. And, all of this couldn’t have been captured without the talented help of my friends and Southern California photographers Jean Tsai and Serena Grace. Thanks ladies! Lastly, I had the honor of having this wedding featured on Style Me Pretty!
